Remembering Gandhi on his Birthday

Fri Oct 2, 2009, 11:15 AM
  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: "Be Yourself" ~Graham Nash
Today is the International Day of Non-Violence: [link]

*********************************************
Now, here are some Gandhi quotes that I quite enjoy.
*********************************************

**You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.
Mahatma Gandhi

**What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?
Mahatma Gandhi, "Non-Violence in Peace and War"

**Freedom is not worth having if it does not connote freedom to err. It passes my comprehension how human beings, be they ever so experienced and able, can delight in depriving other human beings of that precious right.
Mahatma Gandhi, 1931

**Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.
Mahatma Gandhi

**The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
Mahatma Gandhi

**When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always.
Mahatma Gandhi

**It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.
Mahatma Gandhi

**I want freedom for the full expression of my personality.
Mahatma Gandhi

**Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.
Mahatma Gandhi

**Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress.
Mahatma Gandhi

**Indolence is a delightful but distressing state; we must be doing something to be happy.
Mahatma Gandhi

and... of course, the quote that everybody knows:

**You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
Mahatma Gandhi

How should I post them? Together? Separately?

During the critique, he said it would have been interesting to have one in the day and one at night, so I may go back and edit one after I photograph them. What say yea?

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you'll be a mile from them, and you'll have their shoes.

I love the idea of having one side in the day and one at night. I say, go for it!

Ok then, I'll work on it along with my most recent one then.

Thanks for the faves! About the train- The Little Engine that Could was also a movie. A rather good movie. One of the songs from it had the lyrics:
"There's not a mountain that we can't climb
There's not a hill that we can't make it over
There's nothing that you can't do if you try
How do you know you can't do it if you never try!"

I love The Little Engine that Could. It's timeless and it has such a good message for kids and adults alike!

Yes, I really should. I'm working on a few projects right now, so updates are on the way.In a litle bit. I hope to finish off stuff over Thanksgiving break, since there will be no Jen/Becca/Brink/everyone else I hold dear as a friend distracting me- I say distracting in the fact that you all are always doing fun stuff that i want to take part of, not in that that is a bad thing. It merely takes time away from what I could spend working on art stuffs. Oh well. No regrets!
